Ballet does not have a season like most sports do. It is a year round training. Aspiring Ballet dancers take classes year round, in addition to any private lessons with their coaches. They also perform in Christmas performances, possibly other company classes, Spring Galas, they prepare for competitions. It is a lot of work. And just when you think it is summer time, classes are over, there are all these summer intensive programs. Dancer have to audition for each summer program, during this time dancers are trying to get the most out of their time, to improve by training over 8 hours a day for 1-6 weeks.
